doddieaid.comIn the past, January might have been spent on the sofa, eating leftover chocolate coins, and counting down the days until the Six Nations starts. But not now! After its huge success last year, DODDIE AID is back.
WHAT IS DODDIE AID?
Doddie Aid is a mass participation event, encouraging you to get active in January and raise funds to help find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease, which former Scotland and British & Irish Lions lock, Doddie Weir, continues to battle.
Doddie Aid was founded by Weir’s team-mate, former Scotland captain and British and Irish Lion, Rob Wainwright, and raised a staggering £1.2million last January, with more than 22,000 of you from the rugby community and beyond taking part.
Participants choose a district to represent, and log their miles using the Doddie Aid app, with the winning district being the one which covers the furthest distance over the duration of the event. Last year, enough miles were logged to go round the world 87 TIMES…so no pressure! It couldn’t be easier to join in:
1. Download the Doddie Aid app (link below).
2. Choose a district to represent, donate £20, and receive your FREE
district tartan snood. ( Lochaber RFC are part of North & Midlands - We have
set up a 'Lochaber' team, which you can join when signing up !!!! )
3. Gallop, run, cycle, swim, dance, hop, skip, row, roll – in fact any form of exercise
counts…even walking to the chippy! And remember, you can encourage people to
support your efforts by setting up a JustGiving page, or by forming a league on the app
and inviting friends, work colleagues or family to join it.
4. Log your miles using the app.
5. Help your district become Doddie Aid 2022 champions!
WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Everyone. There’s a district for all participants. Scots have four districts to choose from, and Doddie Aid are encouraging everyone from outside Scotland to join the Barbarians (rest of world) team.
